When I am looking for information on specific attractions in Florida I head on over to… VisitFlorida.com

I would say VisitFlorida.com have the best advice on travel. They are the state’s vacation information website. Experts on Attractions, Beaches, Boating, Dining, Family Fun, Nature, Golf, Shopping ETC are there for guidance.

You have such a variety of activities to choose from in the Sunshine State.

One of my favorite parts of the website is the Florida Vacation Auctions.

I have bid, and won. By winning, that means you pay the price that you have bid, and no one out bids you.

Funny, right?

I would suggest if you are on a budget and need to find the best deals on hotels and tourist attractions while in Florida, there you are… Florida Vacation Auctions (like EBay)

Log into MY TRIP PLANNER to organize your time and places you plan to visit. Time is to short to waste so plan as much as you can. Get the most out of your vacation in Florida.

One sunny summer day my 2 year old was having fun playing outside with his cousin. It was time for me to leave as I told my husband “make sure you have the little fella inside shortly or he will get sunburned.” I realized my husband had not experienced the effects the sun could have on a redhead, beings he had brown hair and had darker skin.

The little fella was having fun playing outside and it was tough to bring him inside. He got the sunburn of his life, with blisters on his shoulders. My husband doesn’t like me telling this story, because he thinks his reputation as being The Best Dad on Earth title could be tarnished.

Within a few days a girlfriend of mine was watching my son. I had informed her not to let him play in the sandbox, beings he had blisters on his shoulders. I guess it was tough to keep him from playing in the sandbox because…my cute little redheaded boy had laid back into the sand and popped all of his blisters.

The experience of watching the little fella, while having his popped blisters cleaned, was heartbreaking.

We all live and learn. Sunshine offers one of the best sources of vitamin D which protects the body from a number of diseases, but too much sun is not a good thing. Ask my 24 year old son, who probably doesn’t remember getting blistered from the sun 22 years ago. He’s just heard his Mom tell the story over and over again.

At this point I am searching for a sunscreen that will protect without using these harmful chemicals:benzophenone-3, OMC, homosalate, 4-MBC, and octyl-dimethyl PABA.

This is an Agave plant, better known as a Century Plant…this is 25 feet tall and getting ready to bloom.

It has been 14 years ago since we planted a 1 inch high succulent, in our backyard. Now this sharp-edged thick leafed succulent is taller then me, and blooming! I’m 5′9.

The century plant has sparked my interest. Grown and harvested for Agave Nectar, this succulent can produce up to 6 quarts a day. Agave Nectar is edible and comparable to honey and maple syrup as far as sweetness goes.

Once the plant comes into full bloom, (yellow feathery-like flowers) the height will be close to 30 feet. Then it will die, the whole plant and blooming tree. It does produce babies through the years, therefore the loss isn’t as traumatic.
